PC Tripwires

Can you use 4 tripwires to make an enclosed square or do you need to use 8? Each time I try to connect the last side, it removes one side.

IE:

X++++++++X

+OOOOOOOO+

+OOOOOOOO+

+OOOOOOOO+

+OOOOOOOO+

+OOOOOOOO+

X++++++++X

X's would be tripwire posts.

OR would it need to be:

XX++++++++XX

+OOOOOOOOOO+

+OOOOOOOOOO+

+OOOOOOOOOO+

+OOOOOOOOOO+

+OOOOOOOOOO+

XX++++++++XX

Also, has anyone had problems with the game not allowing you to "Interact" with a tripwire? I sometimes press "E" to interact (to set a duration) and it automatically picks it up instead of having to HOLD "E" and select take.

Can't close the loop, but can get close enough to do it in practicality.
