PC Throwing some shade

Cloud shadows are sedentary, basically the the amount changes then the ambient

switches to a different spectrum, or gradient.

Is it possible for the clouds to have an active  variable grayscale opacity. I mean to create

the illusion of whispy to thick clouds blocking variable levels of the sunlight as they move.

Basically a camera above but pointing at the clouds that projects their grayscale
on a  low tris postcard that then acts like a filter. So players see the clouds move, don't see

the filter, but do see the variable light and dark at terrain level creating the illusion

of active shade.

Since it would be real time, minus the projection delay, as the cloud formations and weather

change it may make it a more natural transition visually.

If so it would also mean that it could be used to create one gradient ambient texture for all of the biomes,

and each would have an independent additional color hue. For a simpler light transition when crossing between

the biomes.

Or would this create a high load on the computer?
