Surface Ore Mods?

While building my own mods from clunking together pieces of the many superb mods that I've tried on this site - I'm tearing out what's left of my hair here, when it comes to getting back those nice, convenient, visible, above ground Ore piles: I hate the "dig-'till-you-die" grind, but am not smart enough to get over this particular hump!

Can anyone help, please? A pointer to a mod, or some code snippets?

Tin has some.

... basically they're prefabs (poi's) and the mod adds them to the biome decorations.
