I recently started playing 1.0 with a friend via a dedicated server host we have been using for years now and noticed something strange:
when I am on the server alone playing, the game runs smooth and great. When my friend joins the server suddenly I start having horrible stutter. Even when we are just working around our base at night the stuttering can become quite terrible. I also noticed that when I hear him change to different tools on his belt I stutter for a second every time. So we tested this and I would run by him and he would change to different items on his belt and I would stutter every time he switched to a different tool or weapon and also when he would fire his bow or guns.
I also stutter heavily when we are fighting. As he fires his bow or guns or changes between them on his belt, I stutter on my end every time. On a blood moon, forget it, the stutter becomes so bad (in short random intervals) that it makes it sometimes nearly impossible to use a bow or gun and be accurate since the stuttering makes me miss constantly.
Now, if my friend leaves the server, everything runs smoothly again for me. Also, in my single player game, everything runs smooth even on ultra settings, barely any stutter except when traveling long distances or inside of large cities. But as soon as I am on the server and he joins, it becomes a stutter fest for me.
Now, he also plays on this dedicated server with other people and they all have no problem at all with any stuttering. It seems I am the only one and it only happens when other people join the server with me. I have no idea what causes this or why it only happens to me when another player is on the server.
Anyone else experience anything like this? Because in all of the alphas I have played in, I have never had this problem in multiplayer while on this same exact server, including in alpha 21. It was only since the 1.0 update (release) that this started happening. Funny that all the other alphas ran fine for me, but the actual 1.0 release runs terrible in multiplayer for me (though the game runs so much better and looks so much nicer in single player).
