Storms Brewing

I have a dream based on storms. There from what I understand
two types. The legacy non damaging, and the Biome dependent
damaging.

@faatal, or the person that he referred to would have to verify
if this is possible.

Right now I am running particles at 30%, when the storms come up
my fps stays stable, so it is really efficient.

The thing I would like to know is if the grids from the following
are panels of 3d boxes?

There are 3 of these grids at different cell sizes and parameters
covering the world.

The storm adjustment I would like to know if it is possible is:

If they are panels or static enclosures, that are perpendicular
the the terrain. Can they be rotated and elevated to approx 300
meters elevation, With the particle stream pointing down, to simulate
stormy undulating cloud formations.

If so then the same lightning effect that we have now, could interact
with it without changing it's present configuration.

The storm clouds like this could be a visual prelude to the building
storms. That is if it is possible.

It would also, because of diffusion and refraction, especially if god rays
is on, make it a living sky, and complete the 2.0 storms brewing visual
on page 1.

Full Disclosure: The reason I asked about the altitude being 300 is because
255 is approximately in the range of the overflow area. Which would encase
peaks in storm visuals, and if a person third partied a high ranging map it would
be an interesting outcome.

If not possible, I'm still happy with the layout.

The basic thought behind my dream, is the actual image
of the three individuals, overlooking the waste biome.
To the upper right seems like the desert area because of
the coloring.

I kept studying it, and broke it up into a collage of
elements, and even though I was told it is just a picture,
I kept trying to figure out how that picture could be made
tangible.

The premise is this, The biomes when created are in a static
position, the biome png is a static flat plane. The biome plane
is a controller for light spectrum within that area/biome.

A player can see the distant sky, but presently the entire sky
that is seen reflects only the present position of the player,
until you cross the border.

If the sky emulated the biome lighting, it would be similar to
Washigton DC as one reference. You may be in a darker rural area
but the lights from the metro area, reflect and refract off the
localized cloud formations, framing different areas simultaneously.
