Spawn npc from item.

I'd like to know if it's possible with just xml Modlet changes to make an item that when placed creates an npc entity. As well I'd like to know if that npc can return to it's original placed position after having left its spot to fight something.

Probably not. Earlier it was impossible with items.

Try the block. Trader's spawn block.

Yeh you have to place a block regardless, so... Item places as a block and block spawns entity.
