It´s day 4, didn´t change the loot settings, and i have 4 legendary parts from random containers including trash. But not a single mechanical part. I do have mods, but nothing that is loot related.
Something is wrong with legendary parts.

What i forgot to add is that seems to be since V2.2 i didn´t really notice that in our MP as we are already on day 56, but now that i got that many in my SP, i hopped on the server and saw that we nearly doubled our legendary parts since V2.2

Not sure if anything changed in 2.2 since I'm not on the EXP branch, but 2.0 and 2.1 had a decrease in the legendary parts for me. It was actually at a decent level, where I'd find about what I needed instead of having a lot of extras. Granted, I *still* don't have Q6 armor crafting ability and so I haven't spent any on armor yet, so I do have some stacked up waiting for that, but that will clean me out once I can make it for two players.
As far as mechanical parts, they don't drop a lot except when scrapping stuff with a wrench/etc. There are limited locations to find them beyond just low drop chances in certain containers. It's easy to not have any (or many) before finding a wrench.

I've had games like this. The one I'm playing now is like that, I had a hard time finding moving parts. I usually get them when I leave the hardware store but I didn't get any this time. I started looting cars, this time it took a long time and then I finally looted an engine. Engines scrap to 30 moving parts. Then I was able to make my wrench and now I sell excess parts to the trader

I usually get most of my mechanical parts from disassembling vehicles. The drop rate of mech parts in regular loot seems kinda low atm.

I am on day 7 now, i would have 6 legendary parts while i only looted 3 mechanical parts but i threw away 1 legendary part and gave myself a mechanical part on day 6 to craft a wrench because that´s just effed up. Have been to 3 traders, Rekt twice and Bob, luckily all close by, and they had no mechanical parts to sell either nor did they have a wrench.

IIRC, you have a decent chance of mechanical parts at the various electronics stores by looting their shelves. I might be wrong about that since I really don't pay much attention, but I seem to recall that being one of the places with a good drop rate. Scrapping is still the best source, of course.
Yeah, I guess I did forget that part, prior versions it was pretty easy to find a wrench in houses. I think I had to buy parts from trader for 1st wrench in 2.0, but then that was lucky.
But holy ■■■■! That many legendary parts first week from trash is sick. I mean why bother having the parts requirement. Having gone back and played old versions recently, trash was...well trash. It really wasn't worth your time to loot, especially not early game. In A20 and onwards the very best loot comes from trash right out of the gate. They do so much stupid ■■■■ here just to make more RNG run your life. The water survival argument is still the biggest ■■■■ing joke when you can easily find a helmet mod on day 1 more often than not.

Yeah i know. Got only electrical parts from MoPower chests. Until i finally crafted the wrench ofc. Now that i have the wrench and plenty of mechanical parts, i ofc loot more mechanical parts.....
It was worth spending time on it in the old versions. I used to find everything in the trash, except for vehicles, I think. Now recipes are less common in the trash, although seeds are often found.
