PC sleeping bag vs landclame for zombie spawn prevention. (A18 b152)

Soz if this has alredy been asked but I couldnt find anything about it in user posts or in update notes.

Do landclames work as they did in A17 for zomby spawn prevention!? I only ask because I noticed the tooltips on the sleeping bag now sais zombie spawn prevention and nothing about it on the land clame block?

P.S. loving A18 so far XD

If you take over a POI and don't want it to be chosen as a quest location, does either a land claim or a bedroll prevent that?

The sleeping bag prevents spawns. The land claim offers greater base protection in MP and allows for the player to move things around in both SP and MP.

Related question (hopefully whoever can answer one can answer both)...

They do not prevent that. If your quest is one that resets the POI that you are living in, just remove it from the quest list and choose another. Conversely, don't make POIs your permanent residence.

I can definitely say nope to both of those, because my base just got partially reset with both a LCB and a BR down. Not even a quest target, but some 100m away from it.

Funny thing is, the roof was reset (where all my stuff was, along with the LCB/BR), but the cage off to the side and a ramp up to it were untouched.

 
They do not prevent that. If your quest is one that resets the POI that you are living in, just remove it from the quest list and choose another. Conversely, don't make POIs your permanent residence.

Did you report that bug? Cause that's what it is, a bug. LCB should absolutely prevent your POI base from being selected as a quest location. Bedroll should do the same.

I can't agree. whether or not they do (it looks like they don't offer protection from quest reset), I don't think that they should. First off, they'd have to code it. Do they check every tile of a POI's area and check for any overlap with bedroll or LCB zones? How much is enough overlap to prevent something from being chosen? 1 block? 20 blocks?

Even if that weren't hard to code or check for, and I'm betting it would be pretty tough, as I bet certain POIs are just given a tag, and the trader JUST checks distance and level of the POI tags for assigning quests. If any overlap of LCB or BR zones prevents quest popups, then what's to stop people from LCB griefing the most desirable quest locations?

 
From MP standpoint, quest resetting a POI is probably something that needs to get fixed for obvious griefing /accidents.

Does anyone know if their is still a variable somewhere where zombies dont spawn on player made blocks? If so, I wonder if replacing the floor blocks in POIs is a thing to prevent sleeper respawns?

 
Land Claim blocks are def not stopping sleeper spawns on our server, we have to spread a couple sleeping bags around our base to do it. If we plop down a sleeping bag at our horde base then we have a "squatter" waiting for us when we get back.

For sure. In a17 the issue was the bedrolls and LCB's that were supposed to stop this would just go randomly inactive, or were not active if the player was offline. Either way the system should still detect them and not reset the POI.

I don't know the specifics of how it is coded but it IS coded to check for both a bedroll or a lcb before resetting a POI for a quest. Like I said, if it is not working for you then it is a bug. Report it.

Yea if you place a bedroll down at a quest marker then the quest icon will not let you start the quest until you remove the bedroll and I think restart the server, it just freaks it out. Usually easier to just delete the quest and start over. However I am not sure if the quest system will ignore POI's with bedrolls/LCB's in them.

 
I think in the Land Claim Block description it states that it prevents zombie respawns, so if it isn't doing so then it is likely a bug.
