"Chapter 4" of our Shady Grove public server is recently launched and looking for new players. Everyone is welcome, of any skill level.
If you're not familiar with public servers join our discord; we'll walk you through how it all works.
Fast and Easy to Join
Our server runs on a dedicated machine with a 300Mbit fiber connection to the internet, based in Pittsburgh, PA. We were on Ping Perfect before that but had a variety of performance issues. We have a great ping for most of the US; Europe is a little higher, but we do have several EU players that seem to do okay.
We have a bunch of mods, but absolutely no download required. Just login and start playing!
Good Community
We have a diverse group of players ranging in age from 20 to 50s. Some use Discord VC, but that's not required by any means. All are happy to answer questions and help where needed. We have about 10-15 regulars right now, with others who occasionally drop in.
We encourage friendly, supportive, family-friendly interactions.
About the Server
This is a cooperative PvE challenge server with a focus on player trading and long-term progression.
We have many mods; no download required. Mods include:
Specializations system (each player chooses a crafting specialization for post-vanilla items and must trade with other players to fully realize their potential)
We also have a beautiful player shop area town with an inn, and players are welcome to claim space and build their own shops.
Biome progression allows long term challenge and growth. End game content includes T6 burning forest POIs with very difficult zombies, and T7 wasteland POIs with environmental radiation and insane zombies. Also includes a single-fight raid with boss zombies that require group coordination and proper mechanic execution to defeat. But grasslands is left relatively easy for those who aren't looking for a hardcore challenge
No P2W. No PvP.

Real World Bloodmoon Scheduling
Our blood moons are scheduled for real world times so you aren't constantly logging into one, or constantly missing them, and can better plan your play time to do what you want to do.
We use a web based portal to allow players to schedule blood moons themselves for the following week, with schedules locked on Sunday so everyone can plan ahead.
How do public servers differ from single player games?
If you haven't played on a public server, they are very similar to single player, except that time continues when any player is online. So days tend to slip by a little more quickly (Hence our bloodmoon scheduling).
You don't need to worry about getting 'behind' though. Blood moon and quest difficulty is based on your gamestage, which is based mostly on your level (along with number of deaths), so the game remains challenging but playable.
The biggest difference is that you can skip a horde night by just not being online when it hits. So you can choose if you want to be around for as many BMs as possible or just chill and do more building and questing.
Of course, the best part is that you get to play with other people. Players specialize and setup shops. And I always try to blood moon with others as it's just more crazy, more fun, and more rewarding.
We have rules against damaging another player's stuff, and have had only a couple griefers so far, that were removed quickly. As long as you have a claim block and locked doors/windows your stuff is pretty safe. Most players are respectful and just happy to have others to play with.
If I missed anything please ask; happy to answer any questions.
