PC Second MD5 error

Hi,

Well I got hit by the MD5 error for a second time since owning the game, which has been around a year and half. When I got hit with my first md5 crash I posted it on here. The version I am currently playing on my Xbox one is 1.0.18.0. I have included my settings below. I've been using the unofficial work around for quite some time now every time the game crashes. This time when it crashed I was in the plains biome in the police station which I had made my base. I was putting my loot up from a treasure map I had just went out and gotten and the game crashed like it usually does.

I proceeded to delete my save from my console before starting the game back up and synced it back from the cloud. When the game reloads a portion of my base has been reset to day 1. One of my forges and my guns and ammo crates were all deleted.

I do truly enjoy this game and as it's happened before I'll roll through it but I just wanted to report this so maybe it can be fixed. I'm not sure if the below info is detailed enough so I would like to add that the weather was clear and there wasn't any stutter before the game crashed but I did notice that when I went to my inventory in my backpack the window boxes around my inventory were missing but when I scrolled over the boxes they reappeared then the game crashed.

Game Type: Survival single player

Map Type: Navezgane

Seed/Save Name: Insane SP

Disk or Digital: Disk

DLC: none

Character: madmole

Difficulty: Insane

Run: default

Aggression: normal

Day length: 18 hours

Drop On Death: everything

Enemy memory: 60

Enemy Spawning: medium

Block durability: 100

Loot respawn time: 20

Loot abundance: 150

Airdrops: 72

24 hour cycle: 50

In-game Day: 85

Installed Game Location (Console / HDD): Xbox one games hard drive

Remaining Space in install Location 228.8GB

So I can say from personal experience the work around for Xbox one doesn't always work.

Hi st3llar86,

Thank you for taking the time to submit this detailed report. I am sorry the MD5 error hit you a second time even after you used the workaround. Can you please confirm you used it immediately after the crash? I know the workaround is time sensitive and the XB1 is very quick at backing up data and I just want to confirm for my notes on the workaround.

Thank you,

Clare

Hi Clare,

Yes I can confirm that as soon as the game crashed I deleted my saved file then tried relaunching the game. It synced from the cloud and loaded back up and I realized 16 blocks we're missing from the reinforced concrete wall I had built around the police station, along with 16 wooden spikes and 16 iron bars that we're placed on and around the wall. I knew immediately what had happened from experience and went inside my base to see what the damage was and on the same side the 16 blocks we're missing one of my forges was gone along with loot crates around the area...very strange. It's like it was just a 16 block radius that was deleted.

I think you and the devs are awesome and I love the game so thank you for your quick feedback but after all it is just a game so I'm not upset just looking forward to a hopeful fix. I seen in another post you had said to someone that people have began spacing out forges and crates as a way to combat this error, I was just wondering if that worked and if so spaced out how (In a different room, in a different base entirely, etc?)

Thanks

My wife and I have had 30 plus MD5's. We have started many a new game. We have a save that has been hit 3 times with MD5's,it has multiple base left, but we have lost a few. We have found the 16 block your talking about is common. We have also had them into 64 blocks. We once had one that did 16s in a checkerboard pattern that hit about everything we built. We upgraded xbox's but it still happens. We have currently been playing nomad style where you have no base carry everthing essential with us sharing inventory and building toothys before hoard night. All I can say is the MD5's make it much less interesting.

Hey Muggs,

Yeah that's crazy I've never took the time to count what was erased but I did this time. Yeah my wife use to play as well but we were working on a pretty big castle build and I guess we had 3 or 4 days left until completion and that's when our first md5 happened. What was erased of the castle was too large to count and after that she vowed not to play again until it was fixed lol. I dunno I think it took us almost a month to get to that point so I could understand her frustration but I love the game so I suffer through lol.

I've wanted to try the whole nomad thing but I never really knew how to go about it successfully. I'm playing insane mode right now and like you said MD5's definitely make it a lot less interesting. I mean I repaired what I could but the first time it happened I just began a new map. I think I will try to keep at it though with this map maybe have multiple bases like you mentioned.

Hi St3llar86,

Thank you for confirming that - it's good to know if this work around isn't guaranteed so I can warn others when suggesting it and let the team members know.

Thank you also for your understanding in the face of such a frustrating and disheartening error. The team have assured me they are not giving up and are still working to find a solution for these issues. I have had a number of people mention that the area erased was a station or campfire that was actively crafting something or storing a lot of items. The first player to mention this also commented that they started spacing their storage and stations out around the base - while not as convenient as a craft room in a base the last I heard was that combined with the workaround which they were also using had helped them. Without having their save file myself I cannot be certain that this method is preventing it for them, but that is the theory and I know other players have followed suit.

My wife is die hard with me but we are both frustrated. The nomad takes away the heart ache. Two people work best share backpacks carrying things. Temporary shelters to set up forges, workbench, make, disassemble move. We have leveled very well,we are both killing dogs with ease. She has not died,I have once from a bear ambush when we left a store. Day 40, two hour days. The best part we crash all the time, just load it up and play. We have never noticed a MD5 on this map,(smiling). Also you want to see MD5's build anything large on X-Box then plant 20-30 trees around it you will have MD5's within days just let the trees grow
