PC Screamer and summoning clarification

Not a rant this time (though the seeming lack of cooldown is kinda BS).

My question is this: Is it intended for Screamers to bring friends with them without screaming first? I notice most (not every) time, I'll get a Screamer or two (usually two) at my door, along with a few other zombies. Thing is, neither one screams, just the little trill/coo sound they make. Once one or both scream, yes, more zombies come out of the woodwork, but what's with the initial group of zeds that come a-knockin' when the Screamer HOA President shows up to tell me to turn my music down?

I can't speak for the intent, that's only in the collective heads at TFP; but I think they've "always" been a lil buggy that way. Sometimes they just summon early. Could be just that they spot a rabbit and confuse that to a player, or they spot you like cops thru random walls, or .. well, plenty of other things.

The "actual screams" don't seem to correlate with the summons, like at all. They should, afaik, but they just don't.

But not a horde. I had 2 screamers plus a lumberjack in snow today after I broke open some safe-type boxes (a gunsafe for one).

I am always in stealth mode, so I typically hear them before they see me. If I can kill them before I go out of stealth, they don't call more in. If they see me - they do. Usually the scream happens soon after my stealth is broken. A second of so is how long I have before they will call them in. If you aren't in Stealth mode a lot, you might be seen and not realize it. The reason I might be hearing the scream could be the acknowledgement of seeing me and going into agro.
