I just generated two new randoms. I gave new world names and completely different seed names. The counties are also different. They are the same damn biome layouts as the previous one just rotated or mirrored! The city layouts are different. Is this the new RWG?

Yes and no.

It is what is currently in the experimental.

However, it is also considered a work in progress, and hopefully not the final product.

I consider it the "good enough for testing" RWG.

Do you think RWG will change as soon as experimental goes public or during the whole A18? :)

It would be guesswork, and in this case your guess is as good as mine. The RWG have high priority, but TFP is a small team and other stuff just have higher priority at the moment.

 
Madmole has said A19 for biome configurations. If you don’t preview the map then you will have a little bit of mystery. There is also nitrogen while you wait for them to get to random biome configurations.

 
The RWG generation process technically allows for more biome-region variations.

Its not much work to draw and add a few more "biomes01.raw" maps to the stamps, and some simple logic to pick one of them based on the seed.

Probably coming soon.

Those maps are huge, but compress very small (eg storing them in a compressed form would be advisable here)

(with some effort, any experienced modder can add a new biome distribution)
