Geez,

I mean in the grand scheme of thigs is probably right up there with the Skyrim Armor set or worse the PoI skulls.

Except this one is ever present.

Did you guys hire a UI designer yet? Personally I rather that be done before @HammerDano 's bandits :).

I dont mind the poi skulls but they are a nuisance when you live in a poi

Yeah, it looks awful. The orange one that appears before you actually smell isn't as bad, but the red one is horrible. Not sure why they thought it looked okay. I don't really mind the skulls.

To me this feels like it is another "Red cross for failed quests". I'm not bothered by either, at all. But I'll readily admit that a simple "warning" -type icon being screaming red is probably not the best UI design. It draws too much attention, for the most part; it's probably 'worth' the red in a wasteland city, but otherwise it's just a state indicator.

I think it's about the color, not the shape; for me the yellow looks fine, and the red is the same shape. Somehow the red just manages to feel like a meme.

Well, the quest ones aren't visible at all time (all times when you smell, anyhow) and are only visible if you open the quest window. And even then, only a certain number of quests show up without scrolling and most people don't scroll. But yeah, some people don't like the failed quest indicator either. I don't mind that one since it's out of sight and even makes sense since it's a failure. Smelling because you're carrying meat or because you ate something isn't a failure. Yellow as a warning before you smell and orange if you smell would be better than red, imo. And yeah, for me it is about the color. The nose looks weird to me, but I don't much care about that. The red just stands out far too much, making it hard to ignore.
