I have loved this game for a long time. It saddens me that the devs still do not listen to the player base or the finer details of things like UI or realism(yes I know this is not a realism game). I am playing on 2.5 currently. I took a break from the game during the glass jar debacle and now that glass jars are back, I’m checking things out. I am still disappointed in a few things:
The Bad:
I am glad to see there is a variable return rate with the recover jar percentage mechanic. It gives the realism opportunity for broken jars.
The Bad:
- “Glass Water Jar” name should be generalized. It’s not only for water right? Red Tea, Honey, Murkey Water, Beer, etc
- Refilling jars: When filling a stack of jars, realistically it should either take longer to fill a stack of 20….OR…have a refill action only do one jar at a time.
- Inconsistent Repairs: Example: When reparing a window in a POI, why is wood used to repair a window when the end result of a repaired window is a window, but now with added glass? And then to go from a glass window, it must go to a cobblestone panel? What happened to the wood panel?
- AI Smell Mechanic: Having the option to turn it off at least is good….but smell to attract zombies should exist when the food is either in a bag or in hands, not AFTER it has been consumed. It’s in a players body after they have consumed it. If that logic is the goal, then players would always attract zombies based on smell. Apply the smell to the food, not the player.
- Crafting Menu UI Tweaks: Wouldn’t it make more sense to have the cursor default to be active IN the search box when the crafting menu is opened? It can save precious seconds when trying to craft that one arrow that might save a life.
- Claiming Challenge Rewards: Add a “claim all button” so each individual reward does not need to be clicked AND claimed.
- Hatch doors: An arrow indicator for the direction is nice and all, b which direction is that for? Into the hatch or the way it opens? Or out wards? But why would the handle also be REMOVED from the wooden hatch? That was a clear enough indicator which way it opens.
- Sprint mode: doesn’t seem to work. Toggle, Hold, Auto run. I have to hold down the sprint key in any mode
- 3rd person switching: If performing an action, pressing the key to switch will not trigger the switch until after the action is performed. Ie: chopping a tree(left click and hold) and then hit the key to switch to 3rd person….no result until after the left click is released. The behavior seems to be queued up in the process, still executes but waits until the player is done with the current action
I am glad to see there is a variable return rate with the recover jar percentage mechanic. It gives the realism opportunity for broken jars.
