Request for Enhanced Compatibility: Enabling EAC Proton Support for 7DTD

I am reaching out to propose an enhancement that could significantly improve the gaming experience for a number of your Linux users. The suggestion revolves around enabling EAC Proton support for 7DTD, a feature that, according to my understanding, Steam has made quite straightforward to implement.

While I appreciate the native support for the game, the current options for Linux users, namely OpenGL and the experimental Vulkan, present certain limitations. For instance, Vulkan, while promising, only functions intermittently.

I have an older system, powered by Phenom II, that runs smoothly with Proton but unfortunately crashes when attempting to launch natively. This issue persists regardless of whether EAC is enabled or not. On the other hand, my newer computer handles native Vulkan well with EAC, but the older one only operates on Proton, and EAC fails to validate it.

The introduction of DXVK in Linux could be a game-changer. It outperforms OpenGL and appears to offer more stability. Having the flexibility to choose what works best for our systems, be it native or Proton, would be a tremendous advantage.

In conclusion, enabling EAC Proton support would not only provide a solution for older systems but also enhance the overall user experience by offering more options for optimal performance. I believe this would be a significant step forward in accommodating the diverse hardware profiles of your player base.

Thank you for considering this request. I look forward to any potential discussions on this topic.
