Rad remover mod or the drum mod on my SMG

The smg does enough damage to take out rads, but it depends on your difficulty level. Lower difficulty i would go for the drum mag. Higher difficulty i would go for the rad remover.

Yeah, this was my thought as well. If you were playing insane difficulty, you'd definitely want the rad remover if you had to choose between the two instead of using both. It takes longer to kill something at higher difficulty, so keeping them from healing is important. But at default difficulty, the rad remover really isn't that helpful because you can kill things so quickly. It still has value at lower difficulties, but I would choose the drum before the rad remover and only add the rad remover later if I have space that needs filled.

just 1 cavate to that though. lower tier weapons on lower difficulty can have problems with rads, so in that rare instance when your gear isn't up to snuff the rad remover would be my choice.

True, though I've never run into an instance where I was fighting rads before having found a decent weapon that could easily handle them. I suppose it depends on how you play, though. I scavenge a LOT. If someone doesn't scavenge much and is still increasing their game stage quickly, it could happen. Or if they are low level and playing with high level players who didn't give them equipment, it could also be an issue.

oh yeah, this happened to me recently. I was running a playthrough where i forced myself to move to the next biome once the trader sent me there. i was in desert by day 11, i decided to do an infested clear(i figured i'd take the spot over for a base) and there was at least 1 rad and a bunch of feral, and my equipement was not ready for it lol.

Every time I get a T6 SMG, I always go with Muzzle Brake, Full Auto mod, Drum Mag, and Rad Remover.
Isn't SMG already full auto? Been a long time since I've used it. I used to use it regularly, but then switched to desert vulture to make use of .44 ammo that was always piling up and then switched to almost full melee since it was more fun for me.

It is, but the full auto mod increases the firing rate by 12% as well.

I like to shoot quite a lot, I am very "trigger happy", so I would probably go with the drum magazine. But otherwise I would probably get the rad remover 😅. I guess if you are disciplined enough to reload often, and are careful enough to not get trapped in a place where you cannot run and reposition, then that can overcome some of the advantages of the drum magazine.
