PC Question about radiation

I was out exploring when I died a very rapid and bloody death (sad violin). I saw the radiation hazard icon, so it seemed I was in an irradiated zone. Scrambled around and got most of my stuff from my toolbar to my backpack.

I double checked the map, there aren't any (red) zone markers to indicate a danger zone. If it's just bad luck, that's fine, I just would like to know how to avoid that.

I died in Navesgane at : 845N , 2311W.

That is the case now, no red on the map for radiation zone. But when you look very carefully you will see a difference where the border is.
