PC PS4 Ripp-off

Who else bought the game for PS4 years ago (maybe even as hard copy  as I did) and now effectively never got what they payed for since v1.0 never came out for last gen consoles as promised ? What I bought was the full game, not some pre-alpha early access, so I was expecting a free upgrade or a refund for those who dont own next gen and actually never get the finished game but to expect me to pay full price for something I already own fells like a RIP-off. Still waiting for an answer from support (4 days now) but I am sure I am not alone with this problem.

That version was published by a company that went bankrupt.  That isn't TFP's fault.  And if you purchased a digital version, you get a discount on the new version.  Unfortunately, TFP also doesn't control that.  They negotiated with Sony and Microsoft and that was the best they could get out of them.

As far as not even owning the next gen consoles, this game won't work on older consoles on the current version, so nothing can be done about that.

Regarding refunds, you bought the game from Telltale Games.  They would be the ones you would ask for a refund from but they don't exist.  Or you would ask for one from Sony or Microsoft, but I would be extremely surprised if they agreed.

If you take over an IP you do not just go with the benefits but also the responsibilities. Simple as that
IP is intellectual property rights, which is different from publisher rights.

TFP spending their own money to get their IP back just meant that the bankruptcy court could not sell off the IP to other companies without TFP approval.  That meant that future games using the 7 days to die IP were now under the control of TFP.  I wouldn't be surprised if it cost more for TFP to get the IP back then what they got initially in the licensing deal since the value of the IP went up after it was initially sold to TellTale Games.

TFP did eventually obtain publisher rights for the game, but never obtain rights to the source code or any of the development work on the console port.  That meant that they could not legally update or change anything about the 7 Days to Die console version since they didn't own the material.  Iron Giants (the actual company doing the porting) did have an Alpha16 update that they were working on at the time, but when TellTale Games started having financial difficulties, TTG made the decision to release 7D2D as a final game (no more early access, no more Alphas) to boost cash reservoirs.  At that point, the game could not be changed.

I feel I got what I paid for with Telltale’s version of the game. Paid like 20$ and enjoyed playing it for about 700hrs. Heck I’d say I got more than what I paid for. Of course I wish Telltale could have kept updating it but things happen. Wasn’t TFP’s fault they went bankrupt.

I was more than happy to pay for TFP’s REMAKE of 7 Days to Die Console Edition as I knew I’d be getting a totally different game. I had been following development. This isn’t just an update this is a remake or even a part 2 of Telltale’s version. Bought game day 1, started over the weekend, at day 31 (1hr days), and I’m hooked. Haven’t even left the Pine Forest as it’s nice to bicycle through the towns and explore, can’t wait to see the cities. I’d say I’ve already got what I paid for and more out of this version as well.

I second this. Over 3000 hrs on PS4 (20 bugs for the disc), got 2 months ago a PC (had a steam key from a sale, 8 bugs i believe) and thinking about to buy it for PS5 (if a disc version is coming, what i do not expect).

Can't remember a computergame with a better expenses/hours quota.
