Prefab Editor crashes over an over - EOS Error ?

Hello dear team and all players.
I've been building prefabs for 7 Days to Die for years and have never had any problems with it.
But since yesterday I have a big problem!
It all worked well before but now the Editor crashed after loading any prefab.

 

I don't know what it is and there was no update of Windows or any driver.
I only saved the day before yesterday and wanted to continue my work yesterday, but the editor crashed several times right after loading my prefab,
but only wjem i moved my mouse or tried to zoom out. i could use the menü. but the editor crashed, when i tried to load an y other prefab.

After the 3rd or 4th attempt it worked and I continued editing. Everything went without problems. I saved and this morning I wanted to load it again.
But nothing works anymore. As soon as I want to do something after loading, it's over. The editor just crashes.

I start the game from the launcher and EAC is OFF!

I've tried everything I've been told.
Check files for errors.
Cleaned files with Launchertools.
Deleted everything in the Appdata directory again.
PC restarted several times.
Nothing helps and I'm at a loss.
There is always a strange error in the log, which I will show you here, maybe that leads to the problem.
I hope you can help me because it's really a shame that the editor doesn't work anymore.

now it's going totally insane.
After the complete new installation, ALL errors are still there! But the editor only lags for 20 seconds and then you can edit again.
I just waited up to 5 minutes before the fresh installtion and nothing happened. the editor crashed every time :)

Now, after 20 seconds, there are 2 yellow warnings with LibRTCEOS: Collecting statistics is already in progress and everything is back to normal.
Well at least the editor works, with error messages but it works :)

Oh no. I go into the PF-editor for the first time today. want to continue with the next prefab,
all EOS errors came back (this is normal) as before and the editor freezes.
What is this crap ???
oh and the editor is back !

Those are voice chat things. I'll look into a couple of things, but I don't really see how that relates to the editor freezing. There's an "Empty" folder in your appdata/7daystodie/saves which is used by the prefab editor. Delete that and try again.

Voicechat ? I don't even have a microphone/headset on the PC and have never used one .... thats weird...

I deleted the folder and restarted the game. Unfortunately without success. After I'm in the editor, the game hangs right after the "Connect 1006" error  until 1-2 minutes later the warning comes that a MedialibRTC connection already exists. and then it repeats itself.

The really crazy thing about the bug is that if I start the game normally, all the warnings I reported about EOS came up too, but the game itself does NOT hang and i can play normaly!
And there are no RED error messages like in the editor!

Can you post a copy of your entire log from starting up the game that has the EOS errors? Please copy and paste it at pastebin.com then post the link generated. This prevents a bunch of scrolling in the thread.

The full logfile is in my first post under "Logfile follows" in a qoute container.
this is the log when the prefab editor crashes. Luckily it no longer crashes, it just hangs after the connection error 1006. I also posted the part of the log that came after the crash in my third post in a quote container.

Just to make sure it's not a firewall issue, try disabling any you've got running and try again. If it works, we know where the issue is. I've tried simulating a broken internet connection in the editor and didn't have this

 
The part of the log file you posted first shows you are using a world from A16 which is strange since you said that you cleaned all the files with the game launcher. If you want to do an absolute clean uninstall/reinstall to fix any other issues with leftover files, bring up the game launcher, select the clean tab and check all boxes and hit clean. Uninstall the game. Manually delete the 7 Days folder including the Mods folder. Delete any related folders in appdata/roaming and local and local low if they exist. There may also be a folder in there labeled TheFunPimps. Open regedit and backup the registry, then do 2 searches…one search for 7 Days and delete those entries. The second, search for The Fun Pimps and delete those entries if any are found. Now there absolutely nothing on your pc related to the game. Now install the game and go verify game files 2 or 3 times, developers have said 3 is best. It is not uncommon for the first verify to be clean but the second finds a bad file. Also, look in your program file list and make sure you have Microsoft Visual C+ Distributables (2022) installed. It needs to be that version, none of the other versions will work. If you have multiple games installed, you may have multiple versions of Visual C+ installed as different games require different versions and the versions are not cumulative. You may need to exclude 7 Days from Defender again as I’m not sure that Defender remembers an uninstalled game. That is as clean of an install that you can get.

 
Alternatively, try putting the prefabs from CP into the prefabs folder and remove the entire CP mod folder. Also try completely vanilla without any CP poi's and try some vanilla ones.

After the first complete reinstallation I worked without the CP and tried it out with vanilla prefabs. The editor still hangs, so that doesn't seem to be the problem either :(

Yes, I've done exactly that twice and it hasn't changed anything. It's really weird, but it doesn't help. I've already reinstalled the C+ Distributables from 2022 twice, that's probably not the cause either.


I got some weird new Warning after i started the editor today, here is the part of the log with the warning:

Is there no parameter or anything I can do so that the EOS MediaLib error doesn't come up every time in the prefab editor?

It can't be that the editor just hangs all the time because he absolutely has to load this pointless voice chat stuff.
Nobody needs that if he just want to edit prefabs on a locel client  :(  

i would like to use the prefabeditor the way it worked for years before those gamepass stuff was added.

I would really like to troubleshoot to get you to work out of the box, but this may work for a bypass for now. Change this file located in the directory to crossplatform=None for now and see if it helps.

You are my hero, that works really wonderful!
The prefab editor is finally working again without constantly reporting any errors and it no longer hangs.

Unfortunately I can no longer join servers with this version, then this error comes up:
2022-06-07T07:59:15 27.240 INF [NET] Kicked from server: Unsupported client cross platform: None
and i get kicked
But that's not a big problem either, I copied the game again to another directory and left everything there as it was. So I have a 7 Days for the editor and one for playing :)

You're welcome. Still, the issue with this as a whole is something worth figuring out too. Least you can do what you need to do in the meantime while thinking/troubleshooting it
