Just an entertaining thought I'd post:

What if we could chuck stacks of potatoes into a battery bank as a (comically) low-level/emergency source of electricity?

Because science and the implications of killing a zombie with a potato is hilarious.

Might be funny but potatoes barely generate any power.

 
still, maybe throw in a stack and get 5 minutes or so. Small enough to be real, but enough to power a turret or rogue ai.

One potato battery was powerful enough to keep a digitally-sentient megalomaniac alive for the better part of a game...think what it could do for a turret. Won't SOMEONE think of the TURRETS?!?!

Ok , but the game developers won't do it , will you all calm down if I do it as a mod and upload it ?
