Player Count Spoofing

Good afternoon everyone!

I was wondering if anyone has noticed this? It appears one server owner is spoofing their player count to 47 or 48, to make their server appear populated. Once you join you see that there's usually 10-12 players playing. I am wondering if this is against any Fun Pimps rules? It seems strange that this particular admin does this. It's also quite sad that this admin feels he needs to do this. I tried asking the admin about it on their Discord, only to be banned shortly afterwards. Almost like it's some sort of horrible secret?

Let me know! :)

I've got a couple of fake servers spoofing my server name with obviously fake slot count, when you try and sort by pop they will sometimes flash up in the same line my legit server is using and will catch someone if they click at the wrong time. I suspect they were created to steal my players' I.P. Addresses for DDOS attacks. I've @%$#ed off some hacker groups in the past, and also the Admin of the aforementioned server, who I won't name here because it sure didn't work last time I posted. Coincidence, perhaps?

I've tried to reach out several times in several places, but never received a response from the Fun Pimps. I suspect they don't care and don't want to see drama, so this thread will likely be short-lived. Awaiting another timeout from the forums moderators in 5... 4... 3...

Just found out I had a player who joined the new seed today, thought they were banned after a reboot where they clicked the fake server and read the description. Missed out on a few hours of fun as a result. So this definitely affects players who don't know that spoof servers can exist.

These sort of things make this game not look like a serious game if people can manipulate these things so easily unfortunately. There are some individuals out there that will stop at nothing to ruin others fun.

Why are the images I posted of spoofed servers being removed? I don't believe this is against the forum's rules, and I do believe this is a legitimate issue when fake servers are listed in order to steal traffic or I.P. info from others. It seems some here with the power to moderate want to hide this and pretend it is not happening? If Epic Online Services is involved in listing servers, this content is almost certainly against their Community Rules and possibly a breach of the Developer Agreement...

[speaking as a moderator here] I suppose it is very convenient to always blame moderators for everything. I would see it if a moderator had edited a post to remove pictures and there is none. But I see two of your posts with links that seem to be broken. That surely isn't the fault of a moderator. Also you should be aware that discussing moderator actions is against the rules, adding those side comments will surely make it hard for you to post about what you really want to communicate.

About the servers, there is the possibility that TFP doesn't care, but another possibility is that they simply can't police servers. That is the crux when they give out the ability to anyone to operate their own server.

@Grandpa Minion, leave me and my players alone. Though this discussion is tangentially related to you, in ways I don't care to explain or explore anymore, it has nothing to do with console release or drone mods. Maybe you posted in the wrong window.

I played NAPVP because of the player count. But it was all false. Kinda annoying. But how does he do it? Is it just code?

Edit...I think its this programme Oxide (legacy) modification for 7 Days to Die.

But surely if they are using plugins to spoof this can we not backdoor it and get into their server?

When will servers that brake TOS and player spoof get banned? It's @%$#ing @%$#ing me off because there are some brilliant servers but who's guna join 5/64 when there is a FAKE 38/64 online.

It's an absolute travesty as well when you join these servers and the custom POIs and server function is utter garbage trash run by an absolute manipulative lair... Fake server bills with stolen website images that proclaim to be said company. Fake unwell family members imagined to force donations as well...

No wonder Sony won't touch this game

Get this @%$#er off the server lists now
