Buried Supplies I-III quest can fail if too close to a POI or Remnant. Back in the day, it used to be elevation that caused it, or the chest spawning on top of a wilderness/POI prop, also being too close to a POI which was not fixed by the way (still happened in 1.4, specially with tier III ones
), now, it can also happen with Remnants, like in this example. The Remnant here is Sunny Side Shack, but I believe it is just an example of what can happen and it is not exclusive. This picture https://pasteboard.co/asfPvkrL97j1.jpg is the exact location of the quest marker.

- Reproduction Steps
- Note that though this is game breaking as in "breaks a quest due to Prime not fixing it properly (lol)" it is not as common in lower tiers versus TIER III. You can get there by doing this:
1-Be in a map that has Cities to MANY and Wilderness POI to MANY plus reduce Mountains to 0 or very low, that way the amount of POI that spawn is the max that can possibly be in that map, increasing the odds of the issue and saving time to catch the bug. Biomes to default is alright.
2- Here comes the test: How many buried supplies of TIER III can you make in the least amount of time with dev mode on? GO for it.
TIER III: It should happen relatively often. Do 100 TIER III buried supplies quests with those starting game options and you WILL fail some of them.
It just happened to me with a a tier 3. The problem is the spawn area and the proximity. The game fails to generate a chest and auto-fails as the area overlaps with a remnant POI (too close to it) The quest doesn't even generate the area, resulting in auto-failure because "player too far" which is funny, as you just activated it.
Other Tiers are affected, but it's rarer due to quest area, so don't waste time testing these:
TIER I: extremely rare to catch the bug with this one, as area spawn is low. It can in theory happen, so the fix should also include these ones.
TIER II: Also rare, but I did catch a few proximity auto-failures with this one back in 1.4 so I dunno.
So the fix should be: Create "Remnant/POI spawn distance exceptions" for Buried Supplies quests (TIER III fails more commonly, but all of them is recommended) for ALL POI, REMNANTS, and roads (roads are already fixed in most instances).
About the distance for a TIER III to spawn next to a POI ? should be around 3 times the diameter of the quest as a safe measure due to the chest appearing in the corner sometimes (I don't know, 75-100 meters from any POI or Remnant?
That fix will reduce the amount of Buried Supplies spots, but not by much and it will fix the issue.
On a side note, there should be failsafes to a chest spawning underground, if it fails on start, it should try to spawn in different locations 2 or 3 times more (within the quest area of course). The system should be more robust as a result.
