This is just my opinion, OK, and I'm as entitled to that as anyone else. Already running with all settings on lowest (I don't have a super rig, I use the laptop I have for work) I now find myself in flick book land, with 8 FPS. Grass now looks like something a pre-school child would paint, Zeds pour out of every orifice, no matter that I stayed stealthy for the first hour of play. Instead of my usual path of stone breaking to level up my mining, I now find myself knackered after 3, or 4 swings of the stone axe, and having to constantly run from Zeds, that now appear to be able to hear a pin drop from a mile away.
I know the pimps think they're doing something great for us, but to be honest it just all such hard work now and I'm not enjoying it. I found myself camped on a flat store roof (having taken half an hour to destroy the ladder) and no sooner had I made a chest and a camp fire, that I was being clawed. Seems Zeds now have some kind of supernatural ability to leap 20 feet in the air - something I confirmed watching a couple of them jump clear over a car, over and over.
If the fat tourist Zed can now leap over a car, I assume that wolves and dogs can now leap clear over 3 storey buildings, biting you on the way over? I bought Day Z and abandoned it, because all I did was run, run and run. It was simply no fun at all, and the few hours I spent in A17 reminded me of that particular waste of time. Before, we were rewarded for whatever we worked hard at, be it mining, Archery (I have never owned a gun in 7DTD, I like stealth) or just running around. Now it seems the rewards are too little, for too much effort and I can see many players feeling the same. If it's so hard to get started in any meaningful manner, what the hell chance do with have of building a helicopter, or beast bike. For the record, I also never own vehicles. In a post-apocalyptic world, a working vehicle would be like unicorn dung, and besides I like to have a nosey around - so I don't bother. Things may calm down a little - as they did when A12 came out and we were all in perpetual darkness, and walking in treacle - and I hope so. But for now, not having a Quantum computer on loan from the government, I'm going to have to give my favourite game a miss, as the frame rate is just slow motion, even on lowest settings with view distance set to the end of my nose. As I said, this is just my opinion, based on around 4 hours, of 'Gameplay' and I use the word 'play' where I actually mean 'Hiding on a roof'. The one really cool thing I noticed, was how nice the little towns looked at night. Fingers crossed for a few minor patches, to iron out my little gripes, but if they take another 18 months me and 7DTD are going to have to part company.
