Hello everyone,
to make my singleplayer experiences better, I've been trying to populate my worlds with NPCs, both friendly and hostile and also with traders. Recently I decided to check out the current possibilities of the existing SDX based mods and I was surprised to find some cool mods like these:
Wandering Traders SDX Mod, Xyth's Bandits Mod
They were made by xyth. These two mods provide bandits and traders to make the game world more interesting, but when I saw them fighting the zombies (and me), I was thinking:
Would it be possible to add even more interesting NPC survivors like that? Maybe these new survivors would let me pay them with casino tokens to hire them and they would follow me and fight for me?
The way I imagine it is like this (this is a subject to change):
These new survivors would be basically traders who offer the service of protecting those who have enough coins to hire them. You open their inventory and purchase the protection agreement item. Now the tricky part would be how to actually trigger the survivor to follow you and fight for you to make it look realistic. Maybe to trigger the action, you could "consume" the protection agreement like a recipe book / magazine or maybe the protection would be active for as long as you keep the agreement in your inventory. Protection could be time limited or infinite, I guess that doesn't really matter, but in case of a time limited agreement, there would have to be a good balance between price and duration of the protection. The price should be high enough to prevent abuse and the protection ends when you or your protector dies. Survivors should spawn frequently enough so that the singleplayer world doesn't feel that empty.
I would like to kindly ask experienced modders to think about this, would it be even possible and would be anyone interested in making such mod?
