I have over 4000 hrs playing 7days to die. Originally drawn to the game with the learn by doing system. With that said I agree with change to learn by looting as knowledge is how you would learn to craft. However improve by doing would better fit realism, difficulty, and progression. Plus the added freedom to build the character however you could imagine. I believe this would be more survival and less RPG. I also believe separating crafting from improvement would have solved the issue of crafting 100 stone axes to level a long time ago.
Example. Handguns, less stamina, faster reload, (improved).
By removing the points system you won't be able to focus the books in the world. (In survival, you can't control what you find with points.)
Adjusting loot tables of locations like medical books in medical buildings, mechnical books in automotive buildings, ect. Should be how you focus on gaining the knkowledge.
Badges be replaced with mods. Give armors an added slot (like the color slot) for biome protection mods. Lock biome mods behind schematics and the next biome easier to find than the others. If the armor breaks the mod is no longer affective, Each mod can protect 20% ,
Example, In the forest you can find the biome Mod schematic for the burnt forest and all other biomes at a reduced chance
Clothing and consumables to help those who don't have all 4 armor mods to survive longer in those biomes. Clothing can protect 10%.
Storms:
Consumables to survive the storms. Added protection for 1st level storms and resolve of 2nd lvl storms debuff Once the storm has past or in shelter.
Also make the storm have random lengths of time.
Jars: I really don't have an issue with the empty jars but others seem to, Maybe leave them out of the crafting and loot table but allow them to be reuse when emptied. And required for the dew collector but can also be refilled at water sources. I also heard someone online say allow a percentage of empty jars to get broken when taking fall damage, but i would add also on death.
Chicken Coops: I don't think these need to be added as a workbench, just add a loot table (or mutiples like 4) to the ones you have in the game allready, Just increase the loot amount since they haven't been attended to in while. There are plenty of farms and other locations you would find coops allready in the game.
Loot: Sometimes in survival you should still find the occasional awsome item. Again can't and shouldn't control what we find. With that said it should still make sence, unlike the pistol in the toilet, The dresser, desk, night stand, make way more sence. But a lvl 1 double barrel under the store shop counter should seam possible. A lvl 1 shotgun in a lock police car should be possible. Even better quality in biomes with higher difficulties.
From what I watched on the town meeting I think redoing the new zombies to better fit (although I do like the plague Spitter) is in the right direction and removing loot caps is a possitive reaction.
Now for the wish list:
Random Horde nights after the first 7 days with no warning other than the red sky.
Larger wandering hordes in place of horde nights.
Zombie bosses in higher teir poi's
More weapons,
Melee, Sword, Mace, things that can be found at the flea market or pawn shop. Diy pipe with saw blade, Lawn mower blade with leather handwrap, crowbar, Tire iron, ect.
Range, Wrist Rocket,
Quest Sugestions:
I like the defend quest idea you mentioned but how about rescue NPC missions.
Crafting Table Sugetions:
Repacking Station, Able to rebox ammo, and resources
Ammo press. Crafts and uncrafts amunition, Could also rebox.
Working Apliances, Stove, Oven, Coffee Maker, Grill.
Repair Station
Story mode:
Can be locked down with Navigane.
Directed via trader special jobs RWG allowing players to path freely and put together clues to complete the story.
Personally I love the game and allways come back to play it, The poi's have been great compaired to when i started playing this game. It looks way better and is begining to perform better as well so hats off for that. So lets make this a survival game again please. This could be the best zombie survival game ever.
So if you read this then I thank you for your time.
