New quest idea: Clear/Repair

it wouldnt work cause what if a player has zombie block damage set to like 300%? just completely undoing all your work while pathing to you and theres nothing you can do to prevent it. if of the zombies dont despawn from the poi then it should stay that amount so the player can clear them all out first. its bad enough to have to deal with the low chance of a wandering horde or 3 screamers coincidently spawning while repairing
Okay, we're envisioning different things, then. In my mind, once you'd repaired a block, it was done with, and you could then proceed to destroy it and it wouldn't matter.

Maybe for small pois only? clear, repair/renforce, fight the horde.

Base 1000 Duke's for pay.
some of the bigger ones are fun to restore also. like the one cathedral on the hill in the snow biome of navezgane. ill post images from my old a21/20 save where i fixed it later. that is if i still have the save. that idiotic new prompt to clean up data when booting up had me delete all my old saves since a18 that werent in navezgane. youd think you would be warned theres a save file attached to these generated worlds. i even had the dishong tower repaired in that one

yeahhh it was deleted from the custom world purge window that pops up for 2.0. im so god ■■■■ ■■■■ed. i even used the wrench dev tool to clean up all the street clutter around the pois i fixed in that world. i did find the poi that is the sole reason you cant fix all locations

Would be nice to also have basic requests like collect 50 Goldenrod. Perhaps only Jen would have that one.
Collect zombie specimen for clinical testing. etc...

i thought of a variant of this idea: road cleaner. quest marker will lead you to a specific asphalt road location. tasked to remove all broken cars/carts/rocks/carcass within a given road length. the higher to quest rank the longer the provided length of road.

That's an interesting idea. And I'd probably do that, even though it would be kind of boring, just because I like to clear roads around the area I'm normally in anyhow so I don't have stuff in the way all the time. My only concern would be for people using mods that add more things to roads. For example, Vehicle Madness adds a lot more stuff to the roads, so the quests would be a lot more work for the same reward. I'm not sure if the game could determine the number of items that need removed and base the length on that so it would be the same amount of effort. If so, then that would work fine.

its an issue that would just need to be dealt with by the modder. its hard enough to worry about putting into account if any options already built in to the base game would contradict with a proposed feature let alone worrying about EVERY SINGLE mod made. the concept would have to be executed by TFP and then that modder would need to alter theirs accordingly. i mean once bandits come in its gonna totally ruin the biggest mods like darkness falls.

also im starting to like this road clean idea as it has a long term benefit even more so then the house repair half- the player has to inevitably deal with being restricted to roads once they get the 4x4 anyway. i mean has any one else tried to go offroad with that thing? hills are a nightmare

WOW! Wonderful IDEA!!

That's EXACTLY what I'd like doing with my spare time on games: cleaning roads! 😀
Thanks neomega! If they ever add it, I'll know who to bla... ehrm, who to thank! :sneaky:
