New map layout with bomb craters

I just wondered if it would be cool to change the map layout/generation.

Just keep desert, snow-, forest and plains as it is and fill it with round biomes made of burnt forest in the center and surrounded by a ring of wasteland. Maybe with a big crater in the middle.

I would try to lay these "craters" over the pregenerated map to simulate nuclear bomb craters.

I like the idea. It would also be cool, if such craters had some rare resources in them, that you could pursue getting.
