My Vision on New items. A17+

I had to split my post due to 10k limitation.... 😐

Hi guys! I wish to share my toughts on the game, and what i think on how it could be improved. There are small suggestions and large ones, but all would have a large impact on the game.

Ohh, and A17 will be awesome!

ITEMS:

Fence-Gate: A weak one to begin with... still. A one-high gate for wooden fences. Its just bothers me, we dont have that.

A barbed-wire fence gate, for creating proper entry trough defenses. Actually pretty important one.

Double-Doors: 2 or 3 high and 2 wide main gates and doors. I think there should be many type of entries in many shapes. The doors/gates have central purpose in a game like this. Also the most important piece of defense. Garage door is not enough.

Spiked Gates/Doors: I think, it would be great, if we would be using the method of upgrading doors/gates not just to rise durability, but to enchance functionality. Instead of transiting between materials (wood door becomes iron when fully upgraded) ,Doors should become spiked and covered in barbed wire when upgraded to the max. Providing some contact dmg or either doing return dmg on hit. Anyway, giving some active defensive capability to the entrance on its own, without limiting access to the base.

Electric door/fence: its an elaboration on the previous idea. A way to let electricity pass trough a door to shock attackers. May be restricred to fully upgraded doors. A special conductor or relay that drives electricity into adjacent doors. So you put it over the door, and it let the door stun your intruders, slowing thier attack speed.

Recurve Bow: i feel like, theres a gap in technology and progression if someones into bows. I think there should be something between the craftable, starter stick-bow and the compound bow. Probably presenting the same technology as the crossbow, thus craftable. So... a recurve bow. Made from leather and bones, by hand on a bench.

* with the new upgrade system, it gets another purpose. After the starter bow, the Recurved one would be the first to be upgradeable.

Flintlocks: I Just love the Blunderboss. Well... not the weapon. The concept. Crafting mid-technology weapons to use in need, gives a good mood to the play. Lets elaborate on that. Musket/Arquebuse and a Flintlock pistol. The musket would be a solid-shot, medium range precision gun, similarly slow and frontloaded like blunder. The flinta is a handgun, its perk is its higher firerate. Short range, solidshot, but quicker reload. I just love the craftable black-powder guns concept. Give us a musket pls.

Therefore you could have a full arsenal of paper using guns.

Katana/claymore: There is no high-end blade weapon. At first, i tought its fine. Not having a zweihander is the sacrefice, blade-users have to make, becouse blades' perk to skin animals. So blunt weapons have the heavy hitter uber-melee weapon sledge, blademen got an almost similarly strong machete, with potential extra yield from carcasses. Blunt has the ability to bash safes and doors next to debuffing, but that costs extra perks. But...

Swords wouldnt be able to skin. Thats slightly limiting it. Second, i suggest to make a separate skinner perk and make knifeguy cheaper. So theres no balancing issue with heavy blades.

Therefore i highly suggest adding a Claymore as an alternate to two handed heavy blade weapon. It would provide a lot of fun, for a cheap price from a designer perspective.

Low-Tier Drawbridge: Drawbridge has the unique ability to prevent access even to the door itself when shut, and overlapping your defenses when open, providing the ability to protect your immediate entrance without any abusing of game-mechanics. And thats a huge perk. I see, it should not be cheap, but i think, there should be a low-tier version of it. An otherwise weak, wooden drawbridge, 3 wide and 3 or 4 high. It would be overpriced as hell, for the durability it has, but its perk of being a bridge is more important. 4high means 4 wide spikes underneath it 😁 (if the bridge is in line with the wall) maybe 3high would be enough. Anyway, its a huge mid-game addition, or just an alternative as a drawbridge with a different size.

Mud-Trap: its an oily dirt/sand-type(like... sod?), that prevents running on it and slightly slows walking. Created in mixers, and probably should not be cheap. Compared to barbwires, its permanent, not being degraded in durability while doing its job, but is not doing any dmg. Its a high-end, specialized slow-field. Requires oil?

Anyway this is one of the most important suggestions. Its extreamly cheap as a new asset, but has heavy impact on gameplay.

Mounted Guns: okay, we have automated turrets. But, can i have a... manual turret maybe? Or 3.

Their purpose is, they are stationary, but more powerful handmade weapons. They are not as powerful as proper weapons, but cheap and strong mid-game defensive ramparts, stronger then bows or blunderbosses for the same technology.

They can be turned around like spotlights, and shot with.

Spiker Machinegun: its an electric, pneumatic machinegun-turret, that can be manned by the player. Shoots (already ingame) iron darts rapidly with medium accuracy. This is the homemade mounted LMG. Requires electricity.

Swievel Gun: a small caliber mounted cannon. Shoots solid cannonballs with high accuracy. Has medium aoe(shrapnel). Weaker then a rocket launcher, but way cheaper to upkeep. Uses gunpowder.

Ballista: The lowest technology turret. Its a large crossbow, shooting harpoons. (Or simply cb-bolts, with higher power) has high dmg but slower fire rate.

Broadside Cannon: similarly, a low technology gun. A totally fixed cannon, a true, mounted 6pounder. Shoots cannonballs. Can be triggered manually or with electric trigger for trap usage.

These would be cool.

I could suggest many more, like 50cal mgs and dual mp5 turrets, but that way all 4 have unique purposes and fits in properly. One automatic spam-gun, one precision, and one aoe. They all have the purpose of unflexible but powerful, cheap weapons. I hope you guys do this.

I wish you the best! Next part with zombies comin!
