Can anybody identify what's gong on here? I'm at a loss. this just started happening a couple days ago, alpha 20 was working fine until this. I can't think of any correlation that would explain why this started happening.

No matter where you post you need to post your logfile as well. Wihtout logfile people here can only make broad guesses what it can be and you wil probably just get generic advice. So please read the pinned thread on how to post a logfile and then post that logfile:
