If you run on absolutely the lowest settings, set the client to 32-bit mode, and shut down every other program including background tasks in your system tray... You might be able to play a17. You should be able to play a16 "ok".
Things may change later as a17 gets optimized, but this is how it sits currently. You're trying to play with hardware that was out-dated before the game first released.
