during server wars i seen 8 teams battle it out during BM one time, they prob got 50+ pvp kills each

As mentioned, the vanilla cap is 1500. You can of course change that by modifying the game stages. There are probably people who have hit that cap.

As far as difficulty to hit the cap, all you really have to do is get your game stage high enough for that number and kill zombies as far as possible. It would be a challenge to hit the cap solo with no traps or turrets, but probably possible. But if you place a lot of traps and turrets, it isn't hard to kill quickly enough.
