More wild life in the forest

Who told you such nonsense? There are only 2 inedible things in the animal world. One of them is polar bear liver, and the second is also quite exotic, but I can't remember. Everything else is edible and safe after heat treatment.
Polarbear liver is edible in small quantities since it contains a large dose vitamine A. Personaly I wasn't not able to test the safe quantity since our local zoo was not willing to let me shoot one.

The puffer fish is poisonous to eat unless you are extremely careful in preparing it.
Don't confuse fish and animals. They belong to different classes.

There are a lot of toxins there. If you really need vitamin A, eat goose or duck liver.

I learned that from some hunter buddy's of mine.
What strange hunters you have. The same wolf meat is just not very tasty, but quite edible. It is quite possible to eat it if there is nothing else left, but usually it is fed to dogs.

I again put in my vote that birch trees in game drop seeds and be plantable.

I would love to have a droke of them around my base.
before i put birch trees for myself in world generation - i neede to f up with grow progression of birch and needed to create seed for it

Kinda sad that umaple and birch trees dont have seeds

If you know how to edit game files - i can reccomend u to make same with birch trees and put them in generation like i did

Now that I think about it. They did say carnivores were edible just didn't really list them.

But on a serious note gameplay wise. Maybe the In game reason is due too the animals being lightly contaminated.

Because most people when they see a wolf run after them equals free dinner.  Cuz they aren't that tough unless they are in a pack and they never are

Agreed same for maple and even some small pine trees and joushia trees

Also I had lion fish before.  Granted not the same but it's poisons unless the barbs are removed and it was quite tasty..I would hunt them into Extinction lmao 😂

Fish are animals.  Your statement was that there were only 2 inedible things in the animal world, you didn't clarify what class one was limited to in your discussion.  If you wanted people not to mention anything in the Actinopterygii class of animals, you should have stated something like, only in the Mammalia class.

I didn't express myself very correctly. It would be more correct: "Don't eat unknown plants, eat those that feed on them and live on them."

I finished school a long time ago and already forgot that the class of animals includes fish. But mammals wouldn't be very correct either. Dolphins are also mammals.

If it's easy because you can find a dozen animals to kill within a 200 yards radius of your base in the early game, then you might as well remove the hunger mechanic as it's pointless to have.
You are right. I think that the problem with excess meat can be solved by the following methods: increase the cooking time, introduction of a limit on the cooking queue, and also add the mechanics of food rotting in the inventory/boxes, etc.

Increasing the cooking time will allow you to cook less food before it spoils, so you will have to go hunting more often. Moreover, the introduced limits on the quantity of ingredients in the cooking process will not allow this process to be highly automated and, as a result, to produce excess.

Also, I think, it is necessary to distribute the habitat of animals and add hit points to them. In reality, as far as I know, you have to be very lucky to kill a deer with one shot. You need to hit the head or the heart, otherwise such an animal will run away. It is necessary to minimize the chances of killing an animal with a sniper rifle from the player's base (except perhaps in the head). Thus, with an increase in forest density in the upcoming update, you will have to run after animals. All this, IMHO, will allow you to add as many animals to the game as you like.
