Remember to put the original head piece back on. Especially if you're wearing armor you want the set bonus for.

 
About the only time something like that would be worth it to me is if I'm buying very expensive stuff (basically just solar cells).  Otherwise, it's not worth the hassle.  Dukes are easy to get, so saving a bit here and there by carrying around another hat and swapping it isn't what I'd want to do.

It depends on your playstyle. I have seen YT vids with excessive trader abuse just so they don´t need to craft....

lol, I see  it just the opposite. You get more  benefit at the beginning  when money is very tight.
