PC Looted containers

Perhaps I misunderstood what was said in a developer video, but weren't the loot containers supposed to become visibly looted when emptied in a17? For example you enter a house and see a fridge with the door closed, clear it out and the door will be left open as a visual indication that the container is empty.

What we got was fridges(& other objects) that spawn open, never containing loot? Am I missing something? Is the feature not finished?

The part about looted containers starts @ 31:20

"No more 'all the loot containers look the same weather they've been looted or not'"

The things with open doors aren't even loot containers. Am I wrong? We still waste our time looking at containers only to see "Empty....".

Yes, thats what i remembered too. Same goes for the palettes. I was sure in one of the videos madmole told us that we could see how full the pallettes were, because they changed their model dependend on their fullness (empty , 1/2, 1/4). Now all we get are differently full palettes in houses that are not even containers...

No, it's perhaps the dumbest feature of a17... "Looted containers" aren't loot containers at all, they're static blocks.

You weren't the only one expecting this based upon what MM said. To find the reality was less actual containers to loot and just static opened up assets as window dressing is laughable.

It's not really less containers though. Before in A16 if there were 15 kitchen cabinets 12 would have no loot and 3 would have loot.

Now in A16 those same 15 cabinets 10 show as looted and 5 are lootable. Of the 5 lootable 3 have loot and 2 have no loot.

So total loot hasn't changed but instead of checking 12 empty cabinets we are only checking 2 empty cabinets now for faster looting.

I don't agree with the drop ratio but take your point.

The thing is there is that part of the brain that likes games of chance. It's why people play the lottery, fruit machines etc. Chances of wining are next to zilch but the thrill of watching that search timer rotate around while searching sinks for the 20th time looking for a wrench has its merits.
