Linked crates

I'm a total newb to this forum ( Hello all! <3 ), so I don't know if the developers actually read these (and apologies if this suggestion has already been made) but I hope this is something they will consider:

Pleeease allow containers within a player's land claim area to be linked to the player's work stations (like how it is in Fallout4 and many other games). I believe this small change would make crafting less tedious while not reducing any of the difficulty or challenge of the game whatsoever. It not allows only direct access the crated/gathered resources from the workstation window, but would allow the player to see what they can make even if they don't have the resources in their backpack/immediate inventory.

If playing multiplayer, it could be set up that the player's allies can also have the linked access to the gathered resources when using work stations in the person's land claim area. But any crates that are "locked" are only accessible through work stations to the player that locked them.

Do y'all think this would be a good idea?

That's been discussed now and then. It's not a simple matter to do that without issues with multiple people trying to do the same thing at the same time. Due to the issues involved that would have to be solved, it is either not planned or at least far down their list of priorities based on comments the devs have made in the past about it.

Well, that's disappointing, but I appreciate the info! Not being a programmer, I didn't realise it would be an extremely difficult thing to make happen.

It would definitely be helpful and maybe it'll be added someday. I know they commented on it in one of the dev streams, but I don't remember if it was one of the 2.0 dev streams or back in the 1.0 dev streams if you want to take a look.

There is probably a mod that can do something similar. You can search to see.
If not that one there may be others that you may find you like.
I always recommend playing the vanilla game first and then add mods as you want to get a fresh play on things.

Oh, I've been playing for a few years, I'm just new to the forum and don't tend to keep up with game news and gossip so I don't know what's already been discussed etc

I tend to do my own game code modding, my wants are generally pretty simple and easy to adjust :-) I'm only tweaking what's already there as I'm only self-taught in a very limited "need to know" basis. I think if it's beyond the actual developers to make this work, it would be farrrrrr beyond my current skill level (and not a priority for me to delve into it further to learn! 😅)

I did briefly look through mods a while back, but didn't see this as one- if you or anyone else happens upon one one day, please remember me and this thread! Haha
