I would like to see a mechanic that, after each repair, would reduce the maximum durability of the tool/weapon or block part of the health bar (like RUST).

What we have now is ridiculous. I think no one will argue that after updating the crafting studies, you will find a top-quality 6th quality gun faster than crafting the same one, but 5th quality.
If there were mechanics that limited the resource of weapons and tools, it would make sense to craft guns and collect them.
Oh yes, trading on large servers would be more interesting, and not like now, when after a certain point everyone runs around with top-end weapons and no one cares about the market.

 
If they did that, it wouldn't be like Rust, it would be like 7 Days to Die from about 6+ years ago. This game has already had that mechanic and for some reason TFP thought it was a good idea to remove it. 

There are a few mods that add it back though. 

 
Definitely not something I would want.  If the game had a lot of lootable weapons and other equipment, I'd be okay with it.  But with high tier items (that you use) being relatively limited, no thank you.  And just because you could trade on a large server to make it work well, this is also a single player game and a game for low numbers of players so any mechanic needs to work well for them as well.
