PC latest experimental

I am new to playing on a PC, that is for any games. I just got my first PC a few days ago. If i am using the latest experimental version, can I play online with a friend who is not playing on the experimental version? If not can I play on the experimental in solo and then use the stable version to play multiplayer?

You would both need to be on the same game client version.

If you make a copy of the client, you can run multiple versions.

Your versions must match and currently the latest_experimental version is different than the stable version so no. One of you must switch.

There is a great tool called Sphereii's Mod Launcher that would easily allow you to play using two different versions. The great thing about installing the mod launcher is that then you can also easily try out several mods because the mod launcher will easily and automatically install them for you.
