Is now a good time to start a play through?

Hello, my friends and I love this game however, we really got screwed over when 2.0 came out and made us have to reset all our progress. We are wanting to start another play through but don’t want to dedicate that time and then lose all our progress before we reach a point in the game we haven’t gotten to experience. Will we have to restart once 3.0 releases and if so what is a ball park idea of when that would be?

3.0 would be in next year of summer if not mistaking!

Yes, you will have to start a new game for 3.0, but that will not be anytime soon. I would recommend waiting to start a new game until 2.5 stable, though. That will be out this month from what they say, so you might as well wait and start a new game with 2.5. 3.0 is likely to be a minimum of 6 months, and probably closer to a year, before it's out, so you will have plenty of time to play a game before you'll need to start over for 3.0.

Pretty much this - If you just want to get your feet wet, The best time to dive in will likely be another week or so- you could start up now if you and the team just want to sink in a little time to refamiliarize with stuff, but with patch 2.5 about to drop-- and how it sounds it will really freshen up the game (particularly the early/mid game) the best time to start fresh will be with the next update.

3.0 is a long way out. I love the game, but holy crap the updates be coming slow. I don't know what the projection is- probably summer. Whenever they decide, add another 3 months.

you can always make your updates be manual if you don't want to hurt your current game with an update that breaks systems. Nothing to worry about.
