PC is it me or are the safes worth looting again?

I didn't have any lockpicks so I busted one open using a rock sledgehammer. Bam Bam Bam pant Bam Bam Bam pant Bam Bam Bam pant. it occurs to me now that I could have drank some coffee to make that a little better. Oh well. 

But the loot was surprisingly good. Got a hunting rifle and some amo for it.  not a simple bow and a bone knife 🔪 like I usually get. I was glad to get that hunting rifle. Some wabbits weren't

Haven't played in a while, but unless they've changed the horrible new loot system in any of the recent patches, you should've gotten hot garbage as usual. Probably what Junuxx says.

 
I don't think it was game stage. I was just starting out on like day five. as I have progressed it really hasn't got much better. Still worth doing.

 
There seems to be a "wonder" loot chance even at early stages where if you open enough stuff one is bound to be useful, but mostly garbage early game...better to just start making cobblestone and upgrading a POI/horde base to escape early loot stages imo

Truth.  I don't think there is a faster/safer way to level.  Especially if you start with wood frames, upgrading them twice with wood and once with cobblestone.

Oh God! I do that but never thought to upgrade to cobblestone. Why didn't I think of that?
