Iron hoe: the ground paint brush

Basically the hoe would come back and it's now a tool too help change the landscape. You're ammo is top soil, gravel and asphalt.

If you wanna make a gravel road to your base? Use the hoe

Wanna make your burnt forest or wasteland base green and lush? Use the hoe

Wanna turn your forest base into desert? Use the hoe.

And it's got the same settings as a paint brush so you can make it small or big

It could be interesting, but I'm not sure I like the idea of changing terrain like that. It is one thing to paint something. It is something else entirely to change terrain.

You can currently do this with just digging up terrain and replacing it with other terrain blocks (or asphalt). That takes time, but I think it is probably better that it takes time to change terrain.

I would rather see that hoe (or another tool) used for leveling terrain or removing grass.

I'd really like to see a non-spawnable type of grass block. I often want to have a grassy courtyard in my base, but if you try and do that, you're going to have zombies spawning there, particularly during horde night.

Maybe just dirt/sand changer

TFP should just incorporate OCB Maurice's Leveling Hoe mod into the vanilla game.

I do kinda like the idea of making roads easier to make. Not *easy* mind you, just easier. As it is, roads are very impractical to make. There's no real reason to make them, of course, other than maybe RP or immersion reasons. But if that's the case then there would be no harm in it, right?

My main issue with making roads in the game is elevation. If we could first flatten terrain, it wouldn't be so bad. But I've had too many times when making a road and then it suddenly is 1m higher or lower in some spot because of how the elevations work. You'd have to dig out wider than your road and even then, you can still run into trouble. It would be nice to have a way to smooth things first. But I would also be fine with some tool that replaces terrain with asphalt. That would be fine with me since there isn't any good way to make roads.

True. Terrain gradients are relatively easy to do in the editor once you get the hang of it. But yeah, when you put it that way, even with some kind of hand tool I don't know HOW it could possibly be done (well) manually in-game.

Wasn't the hoe originally in the console legacy version? Can't remember lol. But I was thinking that after planting your crops, you could use the hoe to till the land or repair it if it got damaged.

Yes it was but my new suggestion is allow the ability to change the ground type into whatever ground you wish. Like grass in the desert or green grass in the burnt forest

Valheim much? 🙃

Me personally, I would love it, if the hoecame back and had a function in regards to farming. Like adding a fertilizer to crop plots, so you could get 1 additional crop from a harvest. Or an increased chance of a seed, when harvesting. Would have to be added again, after the first harvest. But this is something I guess will be insanely hard to code. Even with a fixed "stay fertilized for 1 IG day and 6 hours" it would be hard to do. Would also have to "remember" that it was fertilized when something was planted.

Heck, even making it the only tool that can remove a farmplot (instead of a shovel) would be a nice thing.

Then again, if you play with a few girls, and you start screaming "Where is the hoe", you will get into serious trouble. Fast.

All I know is bears are added in the forest before 7 days to die
And I already run with their paws as my weapon!

Their terrain tool is pretty nice; you can "flatten" towards your character's current height (up or down), or "smoothen", basically reducing the difference in surface direction in nearby blocks.
