invisible fire

vulkan crashes.  the fire went invisible when v1.0 updated. was hoping it was happening to other linux users. i tried changing graphics settings to no avail.

I'm another Linux user having the same issue in 1.0. I have tested both the native Linux build and the Windows build (through Proton) and found the following:

What's invisible:

  • Molotovs ― both the burning puddle and the flame on ignited Molotovs when held. The invisible burning puddle still produces smoke and light.
  • Flames on ignited zombies. Ignited zombies still produce smoke and light.
  • Fire from flame traps. No smoke or light is produced.

What's still visible:

  • Fire on torches ― both placed and held
  • Burning Shaft modded tools when held

I can confirm that whatever update caused these issues happened between the last few months, as fire was visible when I played earlier this year.

The -force-vulkan option fixes the missing fire, but also causes the game to crash after a few minutes like crimson_binome said.

Same issue here. Indeed, `-force-vulkan` fixes it but for me it causes game crashes, stutter, and horrible FPS variance, especially near larger POIs.

On the other hand, it fixes flickering posters and the fire.
