Internal Net Error Connection has Occurred

Have a dedicated Win Server 2016 in house for wife and I. I can connect fine. Wife gets a "Internal Net Error Connection has Occurred" error when connecting via IP.

This is all local LAN, no port issues.

Removed EAC, verified all files on her computer. Deleted all worlds and maps from her computer and still getting the error.

Server logs. https://pastebin.com/D0RqhTRC

I can connect fine, she could connect fine within the last few days.

Ok, from the log..

  1. That CPU isn't exactly valid for hosing a server. Though it does have the core count and clock speed to meet the absolutely abysmal specifications TFP has chosen to post, it does not have the multi-threading capability or I/O bandwidth the game server requires.
  2. Server 2016 is not something I would consider supported either. Server 2019 is the oldest I would recommend, and even then it would need a couple of workarounds to function properly. 2019 absolutely wouldn't work on that hardware though.
  3. Client attempts to connect, and then disconnects. It isn't showing any issues on the server log, but that doesn't exclude the server as being part of the issue.

Most likely there is a problem with the connection. This would include, but is not limited to...

  • The server is incapable of supporting the data stream required for the connection because it is not capable of processing and sending/recieving data in an appropriate timeline.
  • The server firewall is blocking the data stream.
  • Windows Defender on the server is blocking the data.
  • Poor network connections.
  • Client attempting to connect has issues with the network

    Could be Wifi
  • Could be Defender
  • Could be something on the internet between the client and the server

The list goes on.  I cover most of this in detail in the Pinned Support FAQ thread.

For others having this issue, it was not a hardware issue nor Defender / Security or anything like that. It was simply a version mismatch. 1.1 vs 1.2. I do wish TFP would show that when connecting via IP or at least put it in the logs.

Version is included in both the server and client logs.
Server is at: GamePref.GameVersion = V *****
Yes, but it doesn't appear to show the connecting client version, just the version running on the server.

Silly miss on my part granted, but would have spotted it quicker if when client attempted to connected it said client version too.
