So with JARS being a hot topic, I wanted to talk about is a small ish idea i had on a more emersion base way to collect items like water and gas.
Water and gas has a icon you can see while looting that you can't grab or collect without its vessel. The icon would look like the ones from the dew collectors when they are collecting.
For water you can ether use jars or cans.
To collect gas you need a Jerry can or jar.
For stews you need a bowl
Dinners you need plates
Jars are the best way to store water, cans are a temporary solution that can't hold as much and even when boiled can still make you sick
And collecting water from stuff like rivers are contaminated, you need to ether filter it or use a chemistry station or a campfire and a beaker but the fastest way is just filling it.
Gas is more complex. single filled gas can is worth 500 gas, a jar of gas is worth 100. So you can use 2 jars of gas to fill up a auger, or half of a Jerry can. (Jerry cans are measured with "durability" kinda like batteys)
Cans are uses to craft many things, oil cans, can grenades, your own canned goods, suppressors, and they are worth a good bit to smelt
Plates are used for meals, and they dont have much uses outside of that, but can be scraping into stone (because its supposed to be ceramic. Not the same but adding a new resource for just one item is silly)
Bowls are metal, and they can be filled with water, or use to make soups and stews or smelted down
