I was hoping the alpha 16.4 mechanics would be brought back

I loved the alpha 16.4 game and its mechanics, so one of my favorites was that by doing it, my skills improved, so I would like this back in the game and many other best mechanics from version 16.4 to version 2.2 (b3)

Some people use that or similar images when someone posts something that has been discussed often and hasn't gotten any interest from the devs. It basically means you are wasting your time. In this context, they probably mean it isn't going to return to A16.

Personally, I think words are better than memes, but that is the world today.
 
To be fair to the OP Laz responded that he agrees that in a perfect world a combination of perks and LBD would be good and wouldn't mind doing it in another game going forward. So there is interest in it and even if developers won't make changes to this game doesn't mean future titles TFP do couldn't offer such mechanisms. So feel free to post your thoughts.

For me the issue is that the skill system has been re-done so many times. I think generally people prefer not going in reverse. I disagree with that sentiment and think that going in reverse can often be better than going forward, especially when you are on the wrong path. That being said I don't care enough about LBD myself to push for it's return but if they did bring it back (with modifications) I wouldn't hate it.
