I got a little frustrated at the way you interact, in game, with armor in the 1.0+ release, so I started a solo project that I never intended to publish yet that project grew arms and legs and is now my..

7 Days to Die Armor Selection Tool

..I offer it up to the community in hope that it might make someone's 7 Days experience is a little nicer.

What version is this for?

The most stable branch: 1.2

Will it be updated when the game is?

With the biome/weather update due and things like heat/cold not being fully implemented (or if they are they I've yet to suffer from it), so I expect the values to change, and I will try to keep up. I will only do the values for the stable branch, though, not experimental.

Your data is wrong!

Here is my biggest worry, that during the process of abstracting the XML file and combining it with my code logic, that somehow I've made a massive mistake. I don't think so, but it's still a worry. As is how my logic is working. 

For example, the Combined Stats of your armor build only shows the values before any item specific armor perks, suit bonuses or character perks are added. The simple truth is I do not have enough information on how they factor in to the character as a whole. Take the biker helmet it provides "more stun resist" (the value determined by its tier). Is that to be added into the Critical Resist? Is that generic across the whole character or specific to head shots? If you have Pain Tolerance as a character Perk, does that play into the stun resist? What about mods, in what way do they effect these values? So many questions I have no answer for. This hopefully explains why the stats shown are the base ones before perks/bonuses are added.

The Stamina issue. What is going on about this?  It may be a visual bug, it might be a logic/maths bug, I'm not sure, but essentially an item in your inventory reports a lower

Stamina debuff compared to wearing it. I have chosen to use the figures as they are reported when worn, rather than in your inventory. 

If you check the info and/or bug report dialogs it will give more information on this.

Is there a mobile app?

The tool was written for desktop browsers, and at the moment there is no dedicated mobile app. I am able to program for mobile devices so it's possible, but probably only if there is ever a demand for it. As a web page it should work in most modern mobile browsers.

Heh... well, like many creatives out there, I come to any project with the assumption that people will hate it!

So if you do, don't feel the need to comment that you do, I've already factored that in! 

This is amazing, you should be rewarded for your time and effort!

No, there is nothing special here, it's all client side and while over-engineered it's not in any way ground breaking or revolutionary. If you want to reward me for this, then the best thing you can do is be kind to yourself. Knowing you're doing that is worth more than material possessions.


There's not much more to add really, the tool is (hopefully) intuitive enough for you to know how it works. Just to confirm, this is being hosted on a free site. I have applied no intentional adverts or tracking, my only intent is to be share something that I've found useful.
