New Series Recommendation that NO ONE ELSE IS DOING ON YOUTUBE! I am not currently recording my own playthrough in this method, but I might if none of the big YouTubers don't. (I have to admit, I'd most like to see Glock9 try it because he makes me laugh myself stupid.) I wanted to see if it was even possible and yes it is but makes you play differently!

Can only loot trash, either in a trash can or trash pile. Zombie drops are trash (they're called Dropped Loot), including horde night drops. Supply drops are ok because the plane dropped them. Traders are ok to do business with and quests. You can do buried supply quests, but can loot only trader supply caches for quests and bring the supplies when you turn the quest in, but have to leave everything else (it sucks). Trader jobs go VERY quickly because you won't be looting anything that isn't trash. You can buy from a vending machine, because you paid for it.
Infested jobs caches are ok (the steel flat crates just for those jobs that de-spawn when you loot them, but not the main loot). And besides...it was too hard without them. You decide
But ABSOLUTELY NO looting of chests, crates, cars, sinks, cabinets, gas cans, etc...NOTHING that isn't trash. No containers of any kind that aren't trash (Garbage, Rubbish, Dumpster, Trash Piles, bins, or cans). No bookshelves or book piles (getting books is HARD in this playthrough; no mailboxes). Toilets are ok, because that's definitely well...trash.
No, you don't have to live in a garbage can like Oscar the Grouch (or better yet, David Harbour's take on his SNL short), but I do live in the Eco-Trash POI. You can chop up animals, corpses, do mining, etc...because that's not looting.
Ironically, I found out the only way I can play it effectively is to boost lucky looting, even though I can only loot trash. I also had to pump up master chef to find food in trash and dumpsters, and 1 point in Living Off The Land is required from the get-go.
I craft, etc, do EVERYTHING except loot containers that aren't trash. Bird nests are not trash, but you can chop them up without looting them to get feathers (the same goes for taking apart cars).
Everything default, except Warrior difficulty. No loot respawns.
Obviously, any found lock picks get sold, LOL. No treasure maps! POI's are only temptation. TRASH is the goal!
