PC I have to change my resolution every time I play....

...now this isn't a bug as such, and it may be purely on my machine/install, but my desktop resolution is 1080p with 7DtD just now unable to run the game at that without serious lag issues so I "have" to drop down both in resolution and quality.

At present I'm running a pitiful 1368x768 (which hopefully will improve either through updates or I get round to upgrading my PC) which doesn't look great but allows me (in B208 at least) to deal with groups of ferals in "dungeon houses" without completely dropping to single figure FPS.

So, after all that, what was it I was saying about resolution? Well every time I boot the game up, the resolution is set back to 1080p. I don't tend to notice as my (low!) quality settings remain the same, but come some action and the game starts to chug. I need to drop into the video and set the lower resolution as it had defaulted to 1080p.

So... see if you have got the game running well at a lower resolution than your desktop, and you come back to find it lagging again, drop into the video options and check it's still set to what you expect. As I say the quality remains the same for me.

Going to bump this, as I've not seen it mentioned by others and it's not really a big enough issue to raise it as a bug (certainly not just now when there are more important things to focus on).

Essentially it's as I say above, my game always defaults to 1080 every time I boot up. As this lags the hell out of me, I need to drop it down. For those who also run it at lower than 1080p, and find the game is lagging when it didn't seem to before (or didn't as badly as before) then do a quick check in your video settings.

Probably should have posted this in the General Support section. I would have seen it sooner for sure.

From the Game Launcher, choose the Unity Screen Selector and set display and resolution there.

Thanks. I'll give that a shot, it might be the thing overriding it.

I mention it because I kept getting caught out by it, and with the unoptimised experimental as it is just now quite a lot of people are stating they are dropping resolution to get better performance. I posted in here to let others know rather than anything else.

It defaults back to the desktop resolution EVERY TIME YOU LAUNCH INTO A MAP. I have to reduce to 1440x900 from 1920x1200 in order to make A17 smooth (newer, better graphics engine, I get it--time to upgrade the old 960). Leave a game to the 7D2D main menu (not even quitting 7D2D altogether), and rejoin the game is all it takes for the resolution to default back to the desktop resolution. Setting the resolution in the game options makes no difference. Obviously it should be holding onto any new resolution selection.

It's a crap-shoot from the Unity Screen Selector, too :(

Definitely odd then. I haven't had any issues in testing.
Leave it to me, I break everything. It literally is a crap-shoot for me and a couple of my friends I sometimes play with (more-so on my end; them a couple of times). In current conjecture, it may be some settings on my end? My video settings are all application-controlled, and steam input settings is forced-off (alogn with steam overlay). I use Exclusive Full-screen/SHow Unity Launcher from the game launcher. My screen resolution is usually at what I want it to be, but sometimes it loads in max-resolution, sometimes not. Notably, if it loads in max resolution and I go back into the screen selector, it changes the resolution in the drop-box to max. *shrug*I always find weird bugs lol.

Just launched my game doing the same thing, and was in max resolution again lol. Restarted it at my selected resolution and it worked this time.

this is not the solution - the launcher

ive noticed that its either the server save data or savegame data that seems to hold resolution data and forces it upon anyone loading

this is an issue that makes people NOT WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME CAUSE THEY THINK THIER PC CANT

this should be addressed it cant b that hard to solve really

ive seen the serverconfig load a set res removing my set at menu res while starting a game.

why is the resoultion saved?

stop forcing last known saved resoultions when u enter a game (simply remove the line doing this TFP ?)

I've had this issue since A17 although I never reported it I believe I have it narrowed down.

If the game does not shut down properly it'll reset back to the default setting of 1080. (theory)

Another way to fix this is just to simply delete the games registry settings, thats what I do. after doing so it'll remain at whatever res I select until the game crashes then it'll reset back to 1080.

Note: that the game may appear to shutdown properly that is not always the case. I still need to do a lot mor etesting to narrow down the cause of it but....maybe this info will help a little.
