I can only give some suggestions as far as NVIDIA is concerned since that is what I am running.
In the NVIDIA control panel.
I have all the game settings at max except I have Depth of Field, and Motion blur turned off because they make me feel pukey.
That's it. I think the main setting we are looking at is the Max pre-rendered frames. I have it on 1 and have no problems with it. You can use the ingame settings for vertical sync.
