How do i get the old UI back lmao

I imagine i will get used to the new one after a while. My eyes keep darting to where the old food and water bars were.

Good luck with experimental lads, i will see y'all in the wasteland!

You'd need to get someone to make a UI mod of the old UI, or make one yourself. I haven't done any UI modding for this game, so I don't know how easy it is to set it up as it used to be.

I think that's how its gonna have to be, i went looking through the options and there is no way to change between UI schemes.
I know many games offer things like legacy, standard view etc but doesn't look like this one does.
Honestly the old UI felt cleaner to me than this new one, but hopefully it grows on me.

It's all good, will just have to hope somebody makes a retro ui mod at some point. I do recognize that i am likely in a very shallow minority on this, as over the years i have seen several people complain about the old UI.

As a side note i tried the simplest and stupidest method of just copying and pasting the old UI folder over the new one. To nobody's surprise it did not work!

I thought I was the only one who never liked the separate food/water bars under hp/stamina bars. I think the ones under the toolbelt are infinitely better but also agree that they were too hard to see often times. If they would just increase the size and maybe brightness that issue would not be a problem. I know they increased their brightness at one point and maybe even the size but it was never enough.

It's hardly terrible but idk why but I just liked the bars under the toolbelt. Highly doubt anyone will make a UI mod for it and even if they do it wouldn't be compatible with any other UI mods like in large overhauls.

I'll live with it but overall a great update! Keep up the great work devs, most of us appreciate it!

Ye, similar for me. I kinda liked it too, but not complaining about the new one (only seen on video this far).

For me it was a) out of the way and b) sufficient. I'm going to have to do mental maths between the meal size, the hunger percentage and the level scaling of the food bar anyway; the toolbelt slots split the old bar into fifths, which is accurate enough to eyeball whether to chow down a steak, bacon and eggs, or something beefier.

The new bars are not percentage though, but actual values. At level 1 they are to 100 but like at level 49 the bars go up to 149. I've always preferred this type of display (and have used HUD mods to have this) rather than the relative values.

Oh; I didn't even notice. Yeh, 150/160, current/max. Less taxing mental maths, I guess, but it doesn't look too friendly for just eyeballing; I'm going to do a "max minus current" every time I think about it... unless we can set it to show the deficit instead :)

(I don't think I actually want that, but I'm not sure.. that's kinda all I need to know anyway)

Well, now that I've played with the experimental, I also don't like the new UI. I hope someone makes a mod for the old one. The stamina bar isn't as easy to quickly glance at and I don't like the look of the water/food boxes.

The real solution would be that when you equip a filling/hydrating item, the UI bar previews the increase it would give you if you consumed it, e.g. in a second color. No math needed. 😎

I had this same issue. They were way too small, and I have horrible eyesight already.
They were definitely small, though I didn't have an issue with them. But I'd have been happier with them doubling the height of those instead of changing the layout. They'd be more easily visible and wouldn't really take any extra space. It also wouldn't mean shrinking the stamina and health, which I don't like. I'm hoping someone who does UI modding will make an old UI mod, perhaps with double height food/water bars, for those of us who prefer the old version.

I regret calling it the UI, calling it the HUD(Heads up display) would have been more accurate lol

I'm glad i'm not the only one who preferred the old version, perhaps TFP could look into allowing built in switchable HUD's in the options menu. Could even add several more inspired by the various mods available.

I wouldn't hate it; kinda like healing addons in WoW. Quite different, and would have to work from inventory-select as well as hand-equip, but why not.

Culturally, we might want to force people to train some math though ... :D So instead, give it a rate per second and a variable duration on the item description, and just the current percentage on the toolbar... :P
