At a lake, pond, river, or ditch. Hold it and I'd assume you press E by default on PC just like you would do to drink if your hands were empty. I haven't filled one, but I assume that is how it works.

I guess this is why pressing E on crops is too complex for gathering them, lol. Then again I'm familiar with jar filling from alphas past, so.

I wasn’t trying E, but for whatever reason I thought (incorrectly) that it’d be left click/regular attack. Luckily the item description straightened me out.
